Game Update, 25 April 2008

Secret of the Solstice has been going good but I admit I’ve been distracted. Don’t worry it’s been by yet another mmorpg - NeoSteam. NeoSteam is fairly uncomplicated game to begin with, particularly if your used to point and click rpg games (ie warcraft, Ragnarok Online) but if you want to know more about it I’ll be putting up a semi review guide here soon in a page.

Breadn’Butter has really begun to annoy me. To be able to play the game that they tote you have to spend unreasonable amounts of real world currency. I honestly do LOVE the idea of the game. It was fun and when they announced that Batch 3 (read update 3) the speculation was that there would be more free items and upgrades to game play. That gave the one thing that you don’t want to give players : False Hope. The Evil of False Hope leads to a hopeful player willing to play through games, search out bugs, gain high scores and generaly make the game more challenging for other players by making it efficient, user friendly, and over all a rewarding experiance. Not just a rewarding game experiance but a rewarding task that you chose to take onto yourself to put your time into almost comparable to putting new tires on your car or changing the oil. It’s not noticable to everyone, but it is to you and in the end your glad you did it in the long run.

Maybe the point I’m trying to make is best demonstrated by this : When your an ungodly leveled Whitesmith and your sitting there mining the last materials that your lazy friend didn’t want to finish getting for the spear he wants (but is too lazy to make a merchent into the and refining it to level 7 you realize after your 7th attempt at making the damn thing that there’s something wrong with the system. There’s no reason why after try 5 on your 3rd weapon today that it just won’t come together. Your stats are fine. Your ax come together on try 1. So did the sword some random stranger asked you to put together for him and refine. What in the world is going on. So finaly you decide screw it. I don’t care if he’s not getting what he wants, this dude can deal with a differnt spear. He didn’t even mob mine the materials he needed for it anyway he can deal. So you find another weapon build that will work and you set to work on it. Broken. The server population is low and theres no other Smithy’s that are willing to do you a favor right now (without a price of course, if there’s money invovled well we might consider it).

You finaly give up after eliminating everything that could possibly be wrong with how your going about making this fiddly little spear for that ungrateful friend of yours who never helps YOU level. File a report with the bug team of your server. You get up the next day or maybe even a week from when you file the report and find after checking your servers main page in big bold red letters : Bug found in refining system, don’t waste your materials we’re working on it.

I don’t know why there have been such an obseance appearance of money grubbing game companies that make it impossibe to play the game but whoever is coming up with these things are certainly NOT gamers.

In other news I’m going back to playing Solstice for a while. I’m not writing anything in the process of actually playing the game thankfully right now so my overheating laptop will not end up loosing the entire report on it. Yes, my over heating laptop is the reason why there is no actual walk though-review thing of NeoSteam up yet. But hopefully the house will cool down and will lessen the chance of that happening after I, again, clean the laptop vents.
